Updating Sales Last Year
Normally, Trademaster installs Sales Last Year for a season when you create a budget for that season. It does this by accessing the in-season data for the same season in the previous year (which it also uses to produce the new budget). Inevitably, if you are budgeting more than six months ahead, it will be the case that the historic season is part complete at the time this is done. Trademaster will use actual sales for elapsed periods and budget sales for the rest. Once the Sales Last Year for a season are installed, they will only be updated "on demand", that is, when the user asks for this to be done. This is in order to avoid unexplained changes in growth on last year being shown when you revisit or reprint budgets. You should run an update of Sales Last Year for a season when the historic season finally closes to ensure that information is up-to-date. To do this, from the Main menu, select "Utilities", then "Sales Last Year". At the prompt, hit the Y key and the job is done. How Updating WorksData is transferred forward to the next year by matching the heading codes at Level 2 (merchandise section). If the code does not exist in the forward year, no data is transferred). If the code exists in the forward year but not the historic year, the Sales Last Year in the forward year should be zero and this will not change. However, you may also override the Sales Last Year for any section at Level 2 by editing them directly, for instance where you have amalgamated sections. If you do this, the data will not be affected by a Sales Last Year update, the system will preserve the changes you made. Consolidation totals are also updated automatically.
