Running a TM2 file Automatically

Trademaster usually asks for the name of the file (for a year) that you rquire before it displays the Main Menu.

The program will take a TM2 Filename as a "command line parameter". This means that if you run TM2 from the DOS Prompt, entering "TM 2005" instead of just "TM" will run a set of data you have named "2005", or whatever name you have used.

To get a DOS prompt select "Command Prompt" from the Program Menu (it may be in Accessories). Alternatively, click on Start, then Run and in the dialog, enter COMMAND and click OK. This will give you a DOS window. Then enter "TM" followed by a space and the five charcters (or less) you use to select the file.

If you run TM2 from a Windows Icon you can also include the TM2 Filename in the Command Line there. On the Windows Desktop, right click on the icon and select Properties. Click the Program tab and the needed information is shown against "Cmd line" (command line).

In this field add your TM2 Filename after the program name, as in:
"C:\TM2\TM.EXE 2005". Here the "2005" stands for whatever name you use and there must be a space before it. You can also set up more than one icon so that your current in-season file is set up in one, and your forward budget file in another.

You will need to change these setting each time you start a file for a new year. First create the new file from the Trademaster Main Menu, then change the command line in the TM2 icon properties as detailed above.
