Locating the Trademaster Folder

When you are installing a Trademaster 2 update you will need to know the drive and directory (the path) where it is installed. For a stand-alone computer, or for installation on a local drive, normally it is "C:\TM2" but it can be in another directory, and on a network it may be difficult to find.

If you are running a recent version of the program the full directory path will be shown on the main status screen to the right of the main menu. This is the screen that is displayed after you have selected the Trademaster file name. The information is shown against "Directory" and consists of a drive letter and an MS-DOS path. An example would be "C:\TM2\".

Alternatively you can ask Windows to look for it. On the Windows Start menu click Search|For File and Folders, then in the "Look In" drop down list, select My Computer. Enter TM.EXE as the file name). The search results will tell you the location (path) of the folder. However you may not locate Trademaster on a network drive this way. You can also run Windows Explorer and do the search from there by clicking the Search button.

If you are not running a version that shows the drive and path on the status screen, you may have a Windows icon set up from which you run Trademaster. On the Windows Desktop, right click on the icon and select Properties. Click the Program tab and the needed information is shown against "Working" (working directory). In Windows 3 the same information is available for a desktop icon but you must select the icon with one click, and 'Properties' is on the Program Manager menu.

If there is no icon to refer to, there is another possibility. When you run TM2 the field where you enter the filename has a drive letter in front of it. Use Windows Explorer to search that drive, the directory will usually be \TM2 or sometimes \TM and it will usually be no more than one level down (as in G:\APPS\TM2). If you use the Windows search tool, look for the file 'TM.EXE'.
